Happy 2012 everyone! I actually wrote a lot of fic, comparatively, in December, and fulfilled multiple writing requirements I had signed up for. I wrote three fics for
yuletide, that's three count 'em 3, the first time I've ever written more than one fic for Yuletide. And I did a
kink_bingo mini-challenge. And I wrote something for
clexmas. And we had Yuletide write-ins which were really fun and helpful!
Now I've signed up for
recast_bigbang, which still needs more artists to sign up, so artists! Who want to do art for a recast/fusion/crossover Big Bang! You should sign up! I'm going to write a fic with the X-Men: First Class characters translated onto Darkover. You're looking at me like I'm crazy, but it actually works perfectly. The Ages of Chaos, when many new forms of laran were developing, pre-Compact, chieri, and two words: Charles Alton. Also, bredu and breda are still apparently pretty much the most romantic terms I can think of.
Um. Anyhow. Back to Yuletide.
Stories for mePostcards by Leyenn - Bring It On, Torrance/Isis, worksafe, 1,708 words. I have been wanting this pairing for ages and not been able to find any of it, and this is a beautiful little story that gets them together nicely!
Reemergence by Taelle - Miss Pym Disposes by Josephine Tey, Mary Innes and Beau Nash, worksafe, 4,514 words. Technically this was written for
kinetikatrue, but whatever, it was basically one of my other requests. So so so good and true as a sequel to the novel, I cried, it is gorgeous.
Stories by meMayhem At The Mall - Sky High, Layla, Magenta, Warren, gen. A Christmas shopping trip takes a slight turn for the worse. 2,177 words.
Reunion - Sky High, Layla/Warren, worksafe. A Homecoming dance, five years after graduating from high school. 766 words.
Experiments In Intelligence - Octopus Steals My Video Camera And Swims Off With It While It's Recording, gen. Three Quick Flickers And All Arms Waving is young, but she is not reckless, nor is she a coward, either. She is an observer of humans. She experiments with them because she wants to solve the ancient, controversial question of whether the humans are intelligent. 1,017 words. (This story has been amazingly popular, considering that if I had posted it at any other time of the year I would have been hard-pressed to get even three readers. Instead it's in the top 40 Yuletide fics in terms of hits and has an unbelievable over 1/5, almost 1/4, of those hits translating to actual positive feedback. I am happily boggled.)
Tomorrow morning I fly off to Puerto Rico, see you when I get back!
